Girls football team finish the fixtures for the year with a cracker!

Clockhouse finished off the sports fixtures for 2016 with a trip to local neighbours Crowfield for a girls football friendly.

The game started well, with both sides putting on a good show. The first goal was always going to be important and luckily it came for Clockhouse with an unstoppable hard driven shot from outside the area, credit to Gracie H for the finish. Crownfield did not switch off though and the contest continued at a good pace. Clockhouse managed to double the advantage when Sophie L scored a great goal following some fantastic dribbling from Jodie S and a pinpoint cross from Gracie H.

Crownfield did not allow their heads to drop and proved they were in the contest with a goal of their own. In an exciting game the next goal was to prove crucial, Clockhouse putting the ball in the net after a goal mouth scramble. Gracie H grabbing herself a second goal. Sophie L then tried to do the same and was denied first by a fantastic save from the Crownfield keeper and then by the crossbar. There was time in the game for one last goal. Paris K being rewarded for her tireless running.

It was great to see Lily-Jo G and Emily G playing their first game for the school and impressing along the way. The attacking play was good and Sophie L pushed Gracie H (who is in amazing sporting form as of late) all the way for Player of the Match. As always captain Rosie K and her defence partner Demi B looked solid in all aspects of the game, and Kayleigh M continued her former with another great performance between the sticks, conceding just her second goal of the year.

A great way to finish for Christmas!

Clockhouse 4 - 1 Crownfield

Scorers - Gracie H x 2, Sophie L, & Paris K

Player of the Match - Gracie H

Honours even as Clockhouse stay top of the league for Christmas

Clockhouse netball team played their second game in as many days when they welcomed title rivals Ardleigh Green.

Ardleigh Green are well known in the borough for being a strong growth sporting school. Last year Ardleigh Green were the only side to beat Clockhouse before they reached the Borough Cup Final.

Clockhouse have shown determination as of late on the netball court, for the first time this year we found ourselves trailing. This just worked to inspire Clockhouse who linked up so well in the attacking third. Gracie H put us level before shooting partner Lily S-E scored her first one legged goal to put Clockhouse into the lead. Lily has grown in confidence as of late and despite being a Year 4 looks comfortable in the Shooters bib.

As the first quarter drew to a close Clockhouse had a resounding 5 - 2 lead with Paris K being a thorn in Ardleigh Green shooters side.

The middle part of the game belonged to Ardleigh Green who slowly chipped away at the Clockhouse lead. Some panicking in defence was exploited.

Clockhouse came out ready to battle in the final quarter of the game and we're unlucky to be drawn level from a good long distance shot. 6 - 6 with 9 and a half minutes to play. Callum L and Bobby B linked up well following Gracie H's turn over and Lily S-E once again gave Clockhouse the lead with 8 minutes to play.

Clockhouse held on well and tragically with 2 seconds left the Ardleigh Green goal attack composed himself to tie the game and go home with a  share of the points.

Mr Yarrow said after the game 'The netball team have worked hard over the past three days. A hard training session was followed by two games in as many days. We started well and looking at the bigger picture a draw was a fair result against a tough side. It was however frustrating to have such a lead and let it slowly slip away, but it gives us areas to work on when we return to training after Christmas. Thank you to everybody that has played a part in netball so far this year. Thank you to Rosie K who played at short notice and was solid throught the game. Thank you to Miss Ettridge for umpiring.'

FINAL SCORE: Clockhouse 7-7 Ardleigh Green

SCORERS:
Gracie H x 4
Lily S-E x 3

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Gracie H

Clockhouse remain top of the netball league with a ruthless opening five minutes against local rivals

Clockhouse welcomed Crownfield yesterday evening for a local derby. Clockhouse are currently top of the Havering netball league and were expecting an awkward game.

However any thoughts of a Crownfield upset were short lived as within ten seconds Clockhouse took the lead, captain Gracie H showing her class under the hoop. The lead was doubled before half a minute had been played as Goal Shooter Lily S-E got her first of the evening. The Clockhouse onslaught was relentless and within three minutes Clockhouse had a six nil lead.

Sadly just before the end of the first third Gracie H suffered a nasty injury (thank you to Mrs Montague for doing a great job with first aid). Bobby B came onto the field and looked sharp linking up well with Callum L to provide more glorious shooting opportunities.

As the game went on Callum L received a great pass from sister Sophie L which got him onto the score sheet and Lily S-E added two more to her tally for the match.

Remarkably Gracie H returned in the final third and looked like she had not been away, showing a ruthless display of shooting excellence! Credit must go to Crownfield who grew in confidence and moved the ball around a lot more as the game went on but were well marked by Beth C, Atiya R, Kayleigh M, Paris K, and Charlie B.

Final Score: Clockhouse 14 - 0 Crownfield

Scorers: Gracie H x 9, Lily S-E x 4, & Callum L

Player of the Match: Gracie H

Thank you to former Clockhouse Pupils Daisie S-E and Niamh S for stepping up and umpiring until Miss Ettridge could arrive. Clockhouse extended their undefeated table topping form.

Well done team Clockhouse!!!

Sports Hall Athletics success!

Yesterday 18 children (9 boys, 9 girls) from Years 5 & 6 represented Clockhouse at this year's Havering Borough Sports Hall Athletics competition, staged at Harrow Lodge Sports Centre.

In preparation for the competition, the children trained tremendously hard - spending many lunchtimes developing their athletic skills.

At the competition, the children displayed these skills and competed fairly with maximum commitment whilst having great FUN! After combining the results of both the morning and afternoon sessions, Clockhouse finished in an outstanding 5th placed position overall out of 26 schools. BRILLIANT!

Well done to everyone who took part, we are very proud of you all!
