Netball team ruthless to reach Borough semi-final!

Last night Clockhouse welcomed Engayne Primary School for the eagerly anticipated Borough League Cup Quarter Final. Clockhouse had trained hard in previous weeks, and went out of the Borough to find some really challenging opponents in preparation for this stage of the cup.

After a slow opening quarter Clockhouse had a narrow 2 - 1 lead. Through a goal each for Gracie H and Lily S-E.

From then on Clockhouse stepped on the accelerator pedal and didn't look back. The speed of passing was fantastic, with the ever improving brother and sister combination of Callum & Sophie L linking up nicely to feed the shooters. Despite dominating territory and possession Clockhouse only managed to add one goal to their lead before half time.

With players like Kayleigh M working hard and running non-stop, fresh legs were introduced. Bobby B played out of position and totally dominated his opposite player ensuring that despite Engayne's hard work and never say die attitude, Clockhouse retained the upper hand in the cup tie.

Clockhouse went into the final quarter of the match leading 8 - 3. Despite the Clockhouse defence really stepping up to keep Engayne at bay Mr Yarrow asked the team to finish strongly.

Somehow the team found another gear and looked truly untouchable. Scoring a further six goals without reply.

After the game Mr Yarrow said 'This was our best performance of the year so far! The transition from defence to attack was so smooth and fast, at times it went too fast at other times it was impossible for the opposition to cope with, small tweaks and this could make a real difference in the latter stages of the competition. Engayne were not a weak school at all, but the team played so well that with that type of performance they could beat anyone. They are a credit to everything we strive for with sport at Clockhouse, the team should be very proud! We have trained hard and today our defence stood out. Paris K, Attiya R, Beth C, Kayleigh M, and the out of position Bobby B had answers to everything Engayne through at them. We have worked on some set plays that looked really useful and we still have more in the locker for the semi-final. Last year we lost in the final of the Borough League Cup, this year the calibre of opposition left in is even higher but if we play like we did today there is no reason we can not reach a final again, and who knows maybe even more'.

Thank you to all the supporters today, it was great to have so many friendly faces on the side line cheering the team on. Thanks also to co-coach Miss Ettridge who has worked hard with the side as of late and also to Sheila from Marshalls Netball Club for another fantastic game with the whistle.

We still have a few parts of our game I'd like to make even better, and there is still so much competition for places as I left some good players out today, but I can honestly say I have not stopped smiling following today's performance! Keep up the good work team!!

FINAL SCORE: Clockhouse 14 - 3 Engayne

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Bobby B

SQUAD: Beth C, Paris K, Kayleigh M, Callum L, Sophie L, Gracie H (c), Lily S-E, Attiya R, & Bobby B

Clockhouse represent Havering at the London Youth Games

On Thursday Clockhouse Tag Rugby Squad made the long trip to Barnes to represent Havering in the London Youth Games. Every London Borough sent a school. It was a unique opportunity for the children to interact with children from different boroughs.

Clockhouse met schools from Kingston, Tower Hamlets, Richmond, and Newham to name but a few.

The children were fantastic ambassadors for the borough and despite some less than impressive training sessions leading up to the event, they really turned it on on the day and finished the day undefeated in every game!

Havering Hurricanes Squad - Bradley L, Kayleigh M, Paris K, Charlie B, Charlie G, Sophie L, Callum L, Bobby B, Bobby I, Gracie H

Girls Football Team reach semi-finals for the first time!

After finishing runners up in their group, the Clockhouse girls football team were drawn away to St Albans Primary School in the quarter final of the League Cup.

Clockhouse arrived in good spirits and got straight down to business, dominating play from the first minute.

It took less than 5 minutes for Gracie H to score her first of 4 goals on the day. St Albans really struggled to deal with Gracie's runs from midfield and powerful shots. Other goal scorers on the day included Emily G who impresses more and more with every game, Paris K, and an unfortunate own goal following a dangerous cross from Sophie L.

Sophie L put in more than one fantastic pass on the day, this is something the team have clearly been working on as Paris K and Jodie S also made crucial passes.

Credit to the girls from St Albans who never let their heads drop and finished the game smiling, playing in the true spirit of the game! Clockhouse now move on th the semi-final for the first time in the schools history. Mr McGlincheys team were ruthless on the day.

Well done girls, you've done the school proud yet again!!!

Final Score Clockhouse 7 - 0 St Albans

Player of the Match - Gracie H

Squad - Kayleigh M, Rosie K, Atiya R, Beth C, Gracie H, Sophie L, Paris K, Emily G, Jodie S

Girl Power as Clockhouse Netball Team claim first trophy to accompany league title!

On Saturday Clockhouse took a team to the Copper Box Arena, to play in the Surrey Storm London Live Netball Competition. The standard at the competition was very high with Clockhouse taking on different schools from around the country. Some of the schools in attendance have competed at the National Finals recently.

Clockhouse were placed in a pool with West Lodge Private School, Pembridge Prep School, and Atkins Academy. Clockhouse were on court for the first game of the whole tournament in front of a fair crowd and managed a fantastic 3 - 0 victory against Atkins Academy, Lily S-E scoring 2, whilst Maddie C scored from long range. Next up for the Clockhouse girls who seemed unfazed by the stadium or crowd they were playing in front of, was West Lodge Private School. Clockhouse battled hard but were defeated 7 - 0. In the final game of the group stage Clockhouse played Pembridge Prep School. Gracie H scored early but unfortunately Clockhouse went down 5 - 1.

Despite two defeats to two amazing netball schools, Clockhouse were playing well and as a result of their first win they found themselves in the plate Semi-Final. Clockhouse took on West Byfleet Prep School. Clockhouse looked sharp and were ferocious in defence with Paris K, Beth C, and Attiya R not prepared to let anything past them without a fight and equally Sophie L and Gracie H were linking up nicely to feed the shooters. The shooters were on fire and Clockhouse advanced to the final with a 4 - 1 win, Lily S-E scoring 3 and Maddie C also adding one.

In the final Clockhouse met Ashford School. Despite a nervy start with Ashford dominating possession, Clockhouse hit first with a quick counter attack, captain Gracie H finding Lily S-E with an accurate lobbed pass before Lily gave Clockhouse the lead. Maddie C did not take long to find the net and Clockhouse doubled their lead just before half time. Ashford were far from out of the game though and hit straight back with a great team score. Ashford then found the net again to tie the final. The game remained tight with both teams battling for possession in the middle third but when Clockhouse sped the play up Sophie L found Gracie H, who hit a pin point accurate long pass to Lily S-E who added to her tally for the day with a tournament winning shot. Ashford looked tired and the speed of the Clockhouse play led to Maddie C getting her brace and putting the icing on the cake. Clockhouse winning the final 4 - 2 in a great game of netball!!

After the final the girls were awarded with the trophy and t-shirts for the whole squad. The day was finished with the whole team and loyal Clockhouse supporters receiving tickets to the Surrey Storm verse Hertfordshire Mavericks Netball Premier League fixture. A great way to end an amazing day!

At the trophy presentation Lily S-E was named player of the tournament which is an amazing achievement considering Lily was up against 11 year olds the whole day, and not only did she play at their level throughout the day, she played better than them! In all Clockhouse games on the day Lily S-E was awarded player of the match except one by the Surrey Storm Scouts. A great achievement for a 9 year old!

After the tournament Mr Yarrow said 'Where do I start..... What a great day from start to finish! I did fear beforehand that the girls would miss some of the boys that normally play but every player did the school proud!!! Some players were forced to play out of position but this did not phase them at all. What was really impressive for me was the speed the ball was moved from defence to attack and Gracie H playing out of position at center really contributed to this. That being said it was a fantastic team effort to get our first trophy of the year (hopefully with a few still to come) but the first is always the hardest. The netball team may have already won the borough netball league but the level of competition at this tournament was unbelievably high and the girls worked so so hard. They have done me and the whole school proud!!!!!! Thank you also to the fantastic supporters who travelled all the way to Stratford to support the school. Thank you to Mrs Savidge who gave up her busy day to come and cheer for the team and also a huge thank you to Miss Ettridge for working with me to coach the team, it is not an easy job and her input has been very useful. Well done also to Lily S-E, some players at that tournament have the potential to go on and play professionally in later life, and with that in mind Lily was named player of the tournament a great achievement!'

Plate winning Squad: Gracie H (Capt), Beth C, Paris K, Attiya R, Sophie L, Lily S-E, and Maddie C.
