Look who is in Year 1!

As part of their learning about Day and Night, Year 1 are learning about nocturnal animals.

One of our parents kindly brought in a hedgehog and rabbit to meet us today so that the children can learn about the lifestyle of the animals and how they are looked after!

Year 1 are busy asking lots of questions to help improve their knowledge, ready to write some information about nocturnal animals. If you have a child in Year 1 and want to do some further research we will be only too pleased to hear more information.

Free books for School

Does anyone in your family eat Nestle cereal?
If the answer is yes you can help us to get more books for your children.
Reading books can open young people's eyes and minds to many wondrous things, from exploring magical fairy tale lands to learning more about the world around them.
The Box Tops scheme aims to support children's reading by offering free books for
schools in exchange for tokens from special packs of
Nestlé Cereal.

Please start saving these tokens and send them into school so that your children can benefit from the scheme! If you want to find out more please follow the link below:

Reminders for Week Beginning 11th November 2013

It was lovely to see everyone back at school last week and that so many of you have joined us on either Facebook or Twitter or in some cases both. We hope that you are finding this useful!

We have three parent nominations for the two vacancies of Parent Governor so please look out for the voting papers that will be coming home with the children this week.

Sadly, due to the weather conditions, Friday nights boys football match against Crownfield had to be postponed. Hopefully the boys take on Oakfields away this Friday (weather permitting)!

Do not forget that on Wednesday and Thursday of this week it is Parents Evening after school. Teachers have been busy making appointments for everyone, so if, as yet, you do not have an appointment please contact your child's class teacher on Monday to make arrangements for a meeting. There will be a questionnaire for parents to complete whilst you are waiting. We do appreciate that this takes time but your feedback is invaluable to us as we continually strive to improve the educational experience we provide for the children and families we serve.

As I am sure many of you read in the letter that came home on Friday, we are once again supporting the very worthy cause of Children in Need this year. In doing so we will be having a non-uniform day which if possible includes the wearing of something spotty to raise money (a small donation in the bucket is all that is needed)! All donations received for this will be sent to Children in Need. Please help us support this worthy cause!

Do not forget to return your Christmas Card order as soon as possible so that orders can be placed by the PA. We do not want any disappointments so please ensure these are returned by Friday! Thanks must go to the PA for organising this.

Have a good week everyone!

Year 1 Parents

Do not forget that as part of Year 1's entry point to their new topic ‘Day and Night’, the children will be taking part in ‘pretend sleepover’ during the day in school on Friday (tomorrow). They will be eating cereal and cookies and drinking milk. Please make your child's teacher is aware if your child is allergic to any of these things. Please also remember to send the children in with pyjamas to change into in school and their favourite bedtime story to share with their class.

Important for Parents / Carers

Important for Parents / Carers
The Clockhouse Primary School Facebook and Twitter pages are designed specifically for parents/carers to engage with in order to share news and information about the School.  We do encourage you to sit alongside your children and share the content of these pages, in order to celebrate what is happening in the School.  However, we ask that you do not allow your child to sign-up to Facebook or post comments on the Clockhouse Primary Facebook page.  Facebook is terms and conditions require users to be over 13 years of age. Twitter does not have the same age restriction, because it does not collect personal information from its users, but it should be strongly discouraged for children of primary age, it is a public space and children may not have the maturity yet to manage their own privacy.  If at any stage we notice that any pupils are commenting on the page we shall remove the comments and contact the parent/carer of the child.
Thank you for you support in the matter.
