Netball News

Last night Clockhouse welcomed Dame Tipping for our first home game in the netball league.

Clockhouse put in a dominant display from start to finish and again had the opportunity to try many people in many positions.

Clockhouse worked hard and took the lead with a crisp passing move. But again the team did well defending from the front and limiting Dame Tipping opportunities to get into the Clockhouse third of the pitch. When Dame Tipping did advance any shooting opportunities were nullified immediately thanks to Niamh S and Charlie T.

A big part of the success this evening was from the speed of the passing with Victoria R and Summer S coming from their wings to work with Caitlin M to feed to the shooters. Kacey M and Verity A-G also showed their potential with a solid defensive performance.

Thank you to Dame Tipping for a game that we could learn a lot from. Such a small school but showing huge heart throughout and also to Mrs Adams for umpiring the fixture.

Clockhouse worked hard and finished the game with a 16 - 0 victory.

Scorers on the night were:
Shannon I x 6
Daisie S-E x 6
Niamh S x 2
Caitlin M x 2

This was the last Clockhouse sporting fixture before Christmas so we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their support and to all the children who have represented the school with pride!

We go into the Christmas break undefeated in netball, girls football, and tag rugby. Therefore our girls football team are top of their league and as a result of tonight's victory and last night's walk over victory against Parklands the netball team are 15 points clear at the top of the table. Credit also to the boys football team who sit second in their respective league.

Merry Christmas and let's hope 2016 can be just as successful as 2015!

Netball Victory

Yesterday afternoon Clockhouse took a large squad to St. Peters for our opening game of the netball league.

After losing at the semi-final stage last year, the children knew that it was important to get off to an impressive start this time around if they want to fulfill our potential this year, especially with this being the first of three league games within two weeks.

From the outset Clockhouse were in full swing, showing the speed that has been ever present as of late in training. Team captain Daisie S-E opened the scoring with her first of five scores.

The first third ended with Clockhouse leading 7-1. Daisie being joined on the scored card by Gracie-May H. Credit must go to the whole squad but in particular the attacking four who moved the ball so smoothly.

As the second period began Clockhouse handed debuts to Katie K, Charlie T, and Tajus with all three impressing from the start. With a shake up in the line up Shannon I continued with her impressive start to the sporting year by scoring twice to extend Clockhouse's lead to 9-1 by the end of the second period.

Credit must go to St. Peters who did not give up and they were rewarded with their second score of the game early in the final period. But as Summer S and Caitlin M re-entered the game the speed stepped up once more. As a result Clockhouse scored another six times in the final period. Niamh S scoring three at her first outing as Goal Shooter and Caitlin  showing how sharp her shooting is from long range, netting three times herself. There was even time at the end to welcome Lily S-E onto the pitch. Lily becomes the youngest child to ever represent the school at netball being only in Year 3.

Final score St. Peters 2 - 15 Clockhouse.

Well Done to the whole squad as Clockhouse take their place at the top of the league.
