Important Covid Update! Please read!

Dear Parents / Carers

As we come to the end of a very different, difficult but none the less successful term, I write to outline the plans regarding Covid over the Easter holiday and for the return to school. Please read the below carefully as it is important!

You only need to inform the school of a child receiving a positive test if the symptoms appeared within 48 hours of them last being in school. Please inform us using Class Dojo or by emailing office@clockhouse.havering.sch.uk. A member of the team will then contact you. We will then follow the necessary steps in terms of contact tracing. As a school we are required to contact trace up until Wednesday 7th April, therefore please do keep an eye on the Dojo and please do answer calls that come from an unknown number as it could be us! If we inform you that your child has come into close contact with a positive test case before the end of term, they must self-isolate your child up to the date that we give you.

If the symptoms appear after 48 hours of the last being in school, you should follow the contact tracing instructions provided by the NHS Test and Trace. You can also inform the school using the above channels but there would be no further action for us to take.

As you are aware, even though it is the Easter holiday it is still vital that you of arrange for your child to be tested as soon as symptoms appear and that the household isolate until results are received. This must be through a PCR test. We would strongly advise that you do NOT order a home test, but that you book an appointment at a local test center as you will receive the results far quicker.

As always, thank you for you on-going support. It is such a tough time for us all, in so many different ways but we are in it together and will get thought it together.

I really do hope you all have a lovely Easter and here is hoping we will not be in touch over the holiday!

Stay safe!

Kind regards
Mrs Savidge

Hot Chocolate with the Head

As we all know, Hot Chocolate with the Head is an important part of Clockhouse. Obviously due to the current situation we find ourselves in, sadly it is not possible for us to come together to celebrate which is such a shame. However, we do not want the children to miss out and therefore the chosen children will get a special Hot Chocolate pack to enjoy at home!

As you all know we are constantly striving to improve Clockhouse for your children.

This year we are all 'Going the extra mile' to ensure our school is a fabulous place to be. Each week, the Heads of Year as well as Miss Ward, Mrs Reinecke and Mrs Savidge choose a person (child or adult) who has been seen to do this! We hope all the children enjoy their hot chocolate pack - send us a picture of you enjoying your special celebration drink!

This week the following Clockhouse Citizens have been seen to be 'Going the extra mile':

Year 3 learn about Holi

In R.E. Year 3 have been learning all about different types of celebrations.

Last week they were learning all about the Hindu festival of Holi. Holi is a festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. For many Hindu's Holi is a time for fun. It is a colourful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and coloured water, which year 3 were able to see for themselves!

Although currently unable to sing and dance, they enjoyed a demonstration of paint throwing before getting involved in throwing and flicking paint themselves to create their own celebratory masterpiece, eating a selection of colourful foods and making puppets to retell the story of Holika and Prahlad. The children and adults alike really enjoyed this memorable learning experience!

Weekly reminders for week beginning 29th March 2021

Well, it is almost impossible to believe that we are in the final week of the Spring term. What another strange but successful term is has been! Without your support, determination, trust and understanding we would not have been able to do what we have done and achieve all that we have. Thank you from us all. I am sure you are ready for the holiday and a good break especially as some of the restrictions begin to be lifted. I know the staff will be ready for the break come Thursday.

We are very excited to be welcoming back Wales on Monday - we missed you all last week!

OCA Easter Egg Roll
Please remember that on Wednesday, each class will be taking part in the OCA Easter Egg Roll. To enter your child needs to bring in 50p's worth of 10p's (5 x 10p's in total). The closest coin to the egg after all have been rolled wins the egg. OCA provide a great support to the school so please do help them help us, help your children by getting involved. Thank you in advance and good luck everyone!

As I am sure you have seen, Havering are once again providing support for families who are eligible for Free School Meals during the Easter Holiday. Weekly reminders for the week beginning 22nd March 2021

We certainly had another good week at school. Your children continue to be fabulous but it would be remiss of me not to thank our incredible staff team for all that they are doing at the time! I am sure you will agree we are very lucky to have them all and they continue to do all they can to make it the best possible school experience for the children and families despite the considerable restrictions we all have to work to!

Well done to all those who took part in Comic Relief and helped us raise money for this worthwhile charity. I will of course communicate the final amount with you in due course. Everyone certainly looked fabulous in red.

Help us, help you!
As I have said regularly, as a staff body we will do all we can to keep the children, you and ourselves safe but we do need your help. Below is set out how you can help us and I really do ask for your support and cooperation with this:
  • Please ensure that you do not send the children to school if they or anyone in the household have any Covid symptoms.
  • Please wear masks when waiting to come onto the school site and on the school site (unless exempt).
  • Please ensure that when queuing to get on site, you maintain a social distance and you do not push into queues.
  • Please continue to move when dropping off and picking up.
  • Please do not hang around at the school gates after drop off and pick up.
  • Please stick to the rules outside of school as per the Government expectations.
  • Please think carefully about how you are queuing to ensure that there is still room to walk along the pavement.

Should you get a Lateral Flow (Rapid) Test or a PCR Test?
If your child or anyone in your household has Covid symptoms - a cough, temperature or a loss / change to taste or smell you must all isolate and get a PCR test. A PCR test is for people with symptoms. A number of parents have been getting LFT tests (the ones they do at the Collier Row Library or the ones that can be ordered for families who live with school age children). These are ONLY for asymptotic testing (people without symptoms) to help reduce the spread of the virus. As a school we cannot accept LFT results as proof that your child is negative if they have Covid symptoms.

Japan
Japan do not forget that you have a non-uniform day on Tuesday as your reward for getting 100% attendance for the week. Well done to you all!

Weekly reminders for the week beginning 15th March 2021

It was so lovely to welcome you all back to school. To see the playgrounds full and the school come to life was just wonderful and made us realise how much we have missed this. The children were absolute superstars last week and we are all looking forward to more of the same next week!

As I have said in a number of my communication, as a staff body we will do all we can to keep the children, you and ourselves safe but we do need your help.
We have had a number of parents talk to us about the children's safety when walking down Lynwood Drive whilst Reception and Year 1 parents are queuing and waiting to come onto the site. Due the pavement being quite narrow, please can we ask the parents and children queue away from the road edge in order to allow pavement space for others to walk on and ensure they do not have to walk in the road. Thank you in advance for your support and your help for our whole community.

Sumdog Competition
Do not forget that Mrs Overton has entered Clockhouse into the national wide Sumdog contest following our huge success last time. The contest started on Friday and will finish next Thursday 18th March at 8pm. Help us do as well as we can and get answering those questions! Good luck everyone!

Comic Relief
On Friday we will be supporting Comic Relief, please remember that for a small donation we ask that the children come to school dressed in something red or with red on.
