Weekly reminders for the week beginning 1st December 2025

Well Christmas officially hit Clockhouse last week. The children enjoyed decorating the school. I am sure you will agree from the pictures, it certainly looks very Christmassy! 

On Monday we will launch the first part of our Christmas Story, please look out for this and share with your children.

This week, in school we will continue to try to give the children a fantastic Christmas experience. 

Reception - Year 6
Please remember that the nurses are back on Thursday to complete any flu immunisations that were missed previously.

Year 2 
Year 2 are off to Colchester Zoo on Monday. If you have not yet sent in money and consent forms please ensure this is done first thing Monday morning.

Year 5
Year 5 are off to The Queens Theatre on Wednesday (China and India) and Thursday (Japan) to watch the Pantomime. Please ensure money and consent forms are sent in by Tuesday if you have not done so already.

OCA (Our Clockhouse Association)
We are very excited that OCA Festive Disco will be going ahead after school on Wednesday. It is not too late to get tickets if you have not got these already

Cake Sale
Friday sees our Christmas Fundraising Day and the annual Cake Sale. Please send any cakes into school either on or before Friday as well as giving the children a small amount to buy some cakes!

Is your child, or a child you know due to start Nursery in September 2026
We are looking forward to welcoming prospective parents / carers into school on Thursday 10.00am and 4.00pm. Please call the school to book this or a tour later in the term. 

Sport
Good luck to the Year 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics Team who take part in the borough competition on Thursday.

Things to be aware of
With Christmas Concerts starting next week, please remember that younger siblings are not permitted to attend main concerts (with the exception of Nursery). Please attend the dress rehearsal if you do need to bring younger siblings.

We finish school for Christmas on Friday 19th December. We return to school Monday 5th January 2023.

The Dojo League

The Dojo League!

The Dojo League continued this week - well done everyone for helping your class!

The dojo scores have been analysed and the results are in!

Reception and Key Stage 1:
A big well done to Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, France, Spain, Canada and Mexico who lead the Reception and Key Stage 2 Dojo League with Italy and USA second place.

Key Stage 2:
A big well done to Peru, Argentina, South Africa, Kenya, India, China, 
Australia and Greenland who are all in the overall lead of the Key Stage 2 Dojo League with Brazil, Uganda, Japan, Fiji and New Zealand in second place and South Arica in third.

Well done to everyone for really trying to earn Dojos for their class.

Uganda - 96.7%
China - 98.3%

Well done to all three classes above. 

6 classes were in the Green Zone this week with an attendance above 96% - well done to those classes. 

A further well done to Nursery AM and PM, Northern Ireland, Spain. Peru, Kenya, Uganda, China, Australia, Fiji and New Zealand who had no lates this week.

95.7%

Clockhouse Weekly Wow

We are very excited and pleased to share with you our next Clockhouse Value Champion of 2025-2026!

A huge congratulations to

 Harold H (New Zealand)

who has earned the Respect Champion Award for 2025-2026!


This student never fails to show respect. He regularly demonstrates excellent manners and always makes the effort to ask his peers and the adults around him how they are and how their days are going. He is an excellent class ambassador and embodies respect in everything he does. 


Gracie H (China)

who has earned the Nurture Champion Award for 2025-2026!


Since starting Year 5, this student has shown kindness to everyone. She continues to bring positivity into our classroom and willingly helps anyone in need – often without being asked! From tying her classmates’ shoelaces to tidying up, she reminds us all to be a little more like Gracie! 


 Spencer W (China)

who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2025-2026! 


Spencer has made a fantastic start to Year 5. He has shown real dedication to his learning, actively listening to feedback and applying it thoughtfully. I’ve already seen great progress and look forward to seeing how he continues to grow. Well done, Spencer!

who has earned the Excellence Champion Award for 2025-2026!


Excellence, this child has been showing excellence in everything they do. They are the first to offer their knowledge to the rest of the class and love to share their learning with everyone. They are the first to show they are ready to move on with their learning and are a great role model to all of the children! 

Stephan G (Peru)

who has earned the Nurture Champion Award for 2025-2026!


This child has such a loving and nurturing personality. They go out of their way to ensure that everyone is okay and looks after those who may need it! He always ensures that others needs are met and I could not be more proud of him.

Greenland Moment of the Week

The Greenland Moment of the Week is awarded to

Zybella H

Zybella followed multi-step instructions during a shape game and returned to the adult to seek help when she realised she had forgotten the next step.

The Reading Raffle

As you may already know, once again, this year we are holding a weekly Reading Raffle. Each time the children read at home and a message gets sent to their teacher on Class Dojo or a message is put in their Reading Diary they get a raffle ticket which gets entered into the Reading Raffle draw. This takes place in Celebration Assembly on a Monday. 


This week we were overwhelmed with the number of people who entered. Well done to the following children who were this week's winners and are busy deciding on their prizes:

Former pupil returns to inspire current pupils!

We are very excited and lucky to welcome back former Clockhouse pupil Mia to help Mrs Dowsett with Football Club.

The children got so much out of this and had a great time also.

Weekly reminders for the week beginning 24th November 2025

As you know last week was a slightly quieter week at Clockhouse but this week, as we move further through the term and with December getting nearer, we are looking forward to really getting into Christmas at Clockhouse! 

Our Clockhouse Christmas
We are very excited to officially launch Our Clockhouse Christmas on Friday.

On Friday, the children will be spending some time transforming their classrooms and the whole school into Christmas. We want to go even bigger and better than last year. As always this is where you come in. If you have any spare decorations that you would be willing to donate to us, we really would be most grateful. Please either give these to class teachers or hand to the main school office. Thank you in advance.

Each week, up until Christmas, we have lots of lovely things planned which will be integrated into the children's learning. We hope this will ensure that the children have the best time possible in the lead up to the big day.

Nursery
We are very much looking forward to welcoming Nursery parents into school on Wednesday and Thursday for Learn with My Child. Please speak to the Nursery Team if you are not sure which day to attend. 

Year 1
Year 1 are off to Thorndon Country Park on Thursday to look for the Gruffalo. We are sure they will have a great time. If you have not paid for the trip or handed the consent form in, please do so by Monday at the latest.

Year 5 and 6
There is Bikeability for Year 5 and 6 happening this week if you signed your child up for this.

Look out for the November Newsletter which will be coming out this week.

Things to be aware of
Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner will be on Friday 12th December. This is also Christmas Dinner Day.

Hot Chocolate with the Head


As you all know we are constantly striving to improve Clockhouse for your children. 

This year we are 'Relentless and Rigorous' in everything we do to ensure that our school is a fabulous place to be and the children get the best all round experience possible. Each week, the Heads of Year as well as Miss Ward, Mrs Abeledo and Mrs Savidge choose a person (child or adult) who has been seen to do this and then they get to have Hot Chocolate with Mrs Savidge!

This week the following Clockhouse Citizens have been seen to be 'Relentless and Rigorous':

Reception - Zimal Z (Scotland) for being relentless and rigorous and trying so hard with her learning.
Year 1 - Nanju K (Italy) for being relentless and rigorous and always setting and excellent example to the other children. 
Year 2 - Nailah K (Canada) for being relentless and rigorous in her efforts to improve in each and every lesson. 
Year 3 - Lettie G (Brazil) for being relentlessly rigorous in her maths learning
Year 4 - Harlie H (Uganda) for being relentless and rigorous and always being eager to learn and taking pride in all that she does. 
Year 5 - Poppy H (Japan) for being relentless and rigorous in her approach to improving her English skills. 
Year 6 - Aizah A (New Zealand) as she has been relentless and rigorous in her maths learning, always pushing herself to be the best that she can be.
Greenland - Harry I for being relentless and rigorous in engaging with his daily learning activities. His attitude to learning has been remarkable.
Miss Ward - Ayub S (Peru) for being relentless and rigorous for his positive attitude to learning.
Mrs Abeledo - Bailey P (Fiji) for being relentless and rigorous always putting in his best effort, being ready to learn and working hard. 
Mrs Savidge - Ella S (New Zealand) as she has been relentless and rigorous in her writing recently and she has really impressed both Mr Hurdle and Mr Pye with the effort she has put into every piece of writing we have done since starting Year 6. 

Well done to all these children and all the other children who have been seen to be 'Relentless and Rigorous' this week!

Mahreen has earned her Excellence Badge for always striving to do her very best. When she finds something challenging, she takes the initiative to ask for help in her own time to make sure she understands it fully. Keep it up Mahreen!

Caleb has earned his Respect Badge for always being polite, considerate and kind. He offers to help both his peers and me, and never fails to ask how I am each morning. Caleb consistently does the right thing and sets a brilliant example for others. Well done Caleb!

who has earned the Excellence Champion Award for 2025-2026!


Iris tries her best in all subjects and is embracing the challenges of Year 6 with enthusiasm and maturity. Both in school and at home, she shows great commitment by completing extra work to further her understanding. She continues to make excellent progress in developing her arithmetic skills, showing consistent improvement in her scores each week. She approaches each task with a positive attitude, never complains, and embraces every challenge with determination. Her hard work and perseverance are clearly paying off, and her growing confidence, particularly in maths, is wonderful to see. Well done, we are very proud of you.
