Clockhouse Ofsted Inspection - tomorrow and Wednesday

Dear Parents/Carers

Coming home with your child is a letter that tells you that today we received the phone call from Ofsted to inform us that they will be inspecting Clockhouse Primary School during the coming 2 days.

As a school and with your support we have worked tirelessly to improve the school for your children since the previous inspection in February 2014, and I along with the staff and Governors welcome the inspectors visit to show them how far we have come in improving the school.

Of course the children have a huge part to play in the inspection process so please do speak to them about their behavior, manners, presentation, their learning and making sure they show themselves at their very best and their school. I know they will do you, us and themselves proud. You also have a part to play – if you have not done so already please complete the online Ofsted questionnaire, details on which can be found attached. Please also take the time to speak to the inspectors if you see them around the school to tell them I hope, about all the positive things that happen at Clockhouse.

Please do take the time to complete the parents questionnaire using the link below:

Please also encourage your children to complete their questionnaire about their school following the link below:

In advance, I thank you for your help and support over the next two days and look forward to sharing the outcome of the inspection with you in the near future!

Yours sincerely

Mrs J Collard

Rugby victory

Last Friday Clockhouse welcomed two teams from Towers Junior for tag rugby matches.

Clockhouse dark blues made up of Year 3 and 4 children mainly, were made to battle really hard and it took some moments of individual brilliance from Bobby I and Bobby L to keep Clockhouse in the game against a Towers side who looked ruthless when they had the ball in hand. As the game went on it was the tagging from Lily S-E and Sophie L that eventually gave Clockhouse the upper hand. In the 2nd half some great team work and hard running from Jack M and James G ensured that the dark blues got the vital scores required for victory by 26 trys to 22. Other influential performers were Hayden M, Paris K, Alfie P,  and Brooke A.

The royal blues made up of Year 5 and 6 put in a ruthless team effort to beat their opposition from Towers 24 - 13. The team were clinical with dynamic running and quick offloading after the tag. Memorable scores came from Niamh S, Lewis B-K,  and Shannon I.

Other squad members who played a big part in the victory were Caitlin M,  Bobby B,  Bradley L, Callum L, Daisie S-E, Gracie H, and Daniel M.

Well done team Clockhouse on a fantastic performance in hot conditions and thank you to all patents who joined us on the touchline!

Cricket news

Last week Clockhouse opened our cricket season with a victory in twenty overs against Parklands.

Clockhouse lost the toss and were put into bat. Casey E and Daniel M opened the batting with a confident display scoring 24 off the first two overs. Daisie S-E and Caitlin K came in and kept the scoreboard ticking along with 9 off the next 12 balls. George R and Charlie T came in to bat next and slogged the ball around the field with some powerful strokes. The penultimate pair were Rosie and Billy K. Rosie played really well in her first outing while Billy was probably our best batter on the day playing some lovely well positioned shots scoring 16 runs off of one over. The final pair saw captain Verity A-G paired with Frankie L the pair finished off the innings with an impressive 20 runs off the final balls giving Parklands a target of 281 to win.

Clockhouse put in a strong performance with the ball with Caitlin K, Billy K, Daniel M, and George R all picking up wickets. As a result Parklands score 260 giving Clockhouse victory by 20 runs.

Well done everyone!

Do you want to make a difference to Clockhouse?

Are you interested in making a difference to the children of Clockhouse Primary School, read on below if you are!

SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY

There is currently 1 place for a parent governor on this school’s Governing Body.  The Governor will be elected from among, and by parents of pupils at the school.

The Governing Body has very important responsibilities for the strategic direction and development of the school.  It is part of the partnership that exists between the School and Local Education Authority for the raising of educational standards and School Governors with a parental perspective can make an enormous contribution to the work of the Governing Body.

At this stage, nominations are requested for parents wishing to stand for election.  You may nominate yourself or your partner, provided that three other parents sign the nomination.  You may nominate another parent of a child at the school, provided that two other parents sign the nomination.  The election will be by secret ballot.

Any parent or person having parental responsibility for a child at the school is eligible to make a nomination and to vote.  Once someone is elected as a parent governor, he or she does not have to resign if their child leaves the school.  The normal term for governors is four years.

If you wish to submit a nomination, please collect a nomination form from Mrs Mortimer in the school office and complete and return it to me by Thursday 26th May.  If the nominee wishes, a brief written statement about him or herself may also be submitted for circulation to the parents.  It must be stressed that this is purely optional.

Please note:  For legal reasons certain people may be disqualified from becoming a governor.  For further details please see the nomination form.  All new Governors are now required to undergo the Police Screening procedure.

Yours sincerely
Mrs Collard
