Last week the children in Year 5 got fully involved in learning all about dissolving.
This term Year 5 are learning about changing materials. The children have previously investigated the properties of materials and are moving onto how materials can change. They were tasked with investigating how different temperature affects the rate of sugar dissolving in water.
We used three different temperatures, ensuring we made it a fair test by keeping all other variables the same. We timed how long the sugar took to dissolve in hot, warm and cold water. Our findings showed that sugar dissolved quickest in hot water and we discovered that this is because there is more energy in hot water to make the particles dissolve.
Even the class mascots got involved!
