Clockhouse brilliant at Boccia!

What a great event the Boccia Tournament was on Friday. The children represented Clockhouse in a respectful and  polite manner and played amazingly well. Jah - Kai  and Elijah proved to be excellent captains, they encouraged their teammates and ensured everyone took their turn at the right time. Aaron, Grace, Harlie and Jody showed great listening skills and were all valuable members of the team.

All the children tried their hardest and played so well, As a result, Clockhouse were runners up in the whole tournament.

We are super proud of our 2022 Boccia team!

Hot Chocolate with the Head

As you all know we are constantly striving to improve Clockhouse for your children.

This year we are all trying our best to 'Be Exceptional' in everything to ensure that our school is a fabulous place to be and the children get the best all round experience possible. Each week, the Heads of Year as well as Miss Ward, Mrs Reinecke and Mrs Savidge choose a person (child or adult) who has been seen to do this and then they get to have Hot Chocolate with Mrs Savidge!

This week the following Clockhouse Citizens have been seen to 'Be Exceptional':

Reception - Amira C (Scotland) for always trying exceptionally hard with her school work and always being ready to learn.
Year 1 - Sophie B (Spain) for her exceptional enthusiasm when singing the nativity songs.
Year 2 - Mrs St. Louis for her exceptional efforts to help prepare for learn with my child.
Year 3 - Mahi R (Argentina) for trying exceptionally hard to come out of her shell. Her confidence has built and she always tries her best.
Year 4 - Sienna O (Kenya) for showing exceptional determination in passing her two minute challenge.
Year 5 -  Tyler K (India) for working exceptionally hard all the time and he is so keen to learn in all subjects.
Year 6 - Albey R (New Zealand) for being exceptional with his group during Science when making a model of the circulatory system.
Greenland - Lily M for her exceptional effort to use her phonics in her writing.

Clockhouse Weekly Wow

Here is last week's Weekly Wow and as usual there were a lot of things to 'wow' about last week.

Time to CELEBRATE - Value Champion Alert!

We are very excited and pleased to share with you that we have more Clockhouse Value Champions of 2022-2023!

A huge congratulations to

Alex H (France)
who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Since the beginning of the year Alex has shown a great eagerness to learn. He is always excited about what he is learning about, particularly his topic lessons. He loved our DT topic about mechanisms so much that he went home and made his own mechanisms and brought them into school to show me what he had done. His parents have also noticed a change in his excitement for learning and willingness to continue his learning at home.

Alex B (France)
who has earned the Respect Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Alex is a kind person and constantly shows the 3R's no matter the lesson or time of day. He also listens to others and pays great attaention in class. He is polite and always asks politely before doing something. He is a great example to his peers.

Danilo R (Kenya)
who has earned the Respect Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Danilo always shows respect to his peers and teachers both inside and outside of the classroom. He arrives each day ready to begin his learning and has proudly taken on the role as class ambassador. I have seen his confidence grow talking to other adults in the school and sharing his learning. On numerous occasions his peers in the class have told me how polite and respectful he has been to them. He has been seen by myself and other teachers to have made an extra effort to congratulate other students when they have made an achievement both in the classroom and in the playground.  He is an exceptional role model to all in Kenya, well done Danilo!

Abigail H (Fiji)
who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2022-2023!

After completing her mock exams and feeling quite nervous about them, she has really worked hard at applying herself and making improvements in learning. She is actively asking for help and guidance and the improvement within a week has been astounding. I hope she can see just how capable she really is and remembers what this moment feels like for when her next mock exams come - she really can smash it if she continues to believe in her ability and strive for excellent learning and outcomes.

A huge well done from everyone at Clockhouse - wear your Values Champion Badge with pride!

Hunt the Book!

Following a reading project undertaken by some of our Year 6 children, they presented their learning in assembly and then created a book hunt to celebrate the end of their project.

All the children from Year 1 to Year 6 got to take part and loved hunting down the book title.

The children had a great time. Well done to the three winners from each year group.

At Clockhouse, we LOVE to read!

Amazing Athletics Opportunity

A small number of children ventured into the Olympic Park on Saturday morning to take part in a mile race. The run took place next to the Velodrome from the 2012 Olympics.

On an incredibly hilly course and being very cold, the children did themselves proud and never gave up. A big well done to all four of them. A huge well done to Jake who managed to cross the line as the first under 16, finishing the mile in an incredible time of 7 minutes 25 seconds.

Thank you to the parents for giving up their Saturday to bring the children to the race.

Weekly reminders for week beginning 28th November 2022

As you know last week was a slightly quieter week at Clockhouse but this week, as we move further through the term and with December hitting on Thursday, we are looking forward to really going with Christmas at Clockhouse!

Our Clockhouse Christmas
We are very excited to officially launch Our Clockhouse Christmas On Thursday.

On Friday, the children will be spending some time transforming their classrooms and the whole school into Christmas. We want to go even bigger and better than last year. This is where you come in. If you have any spare decorations that you would be willing to donate to us, we really would be most grateful. Please either give these to class teachers or hand to the main school office. Thank you in advance.

Each week, up until Christmas, we have lots of lovely things planned which will be integrated into the children's learning. We hope this will ensure that the children have the best time possible in the lead up to the big day.

Reception - Year 6
Please remember that the nurses are back on Wednesday to complete any flu immunisations that were missed previously.

Year 1

Is your blood boiling?

Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system. They discovered the different components that make up our blood by creating their own representations of what our blood looks like.

Did you know that our blood is both a liquid and a solid? The liquid part is the plasma which makes up 55% of our blood. To represent our the plasma they used yellow coloured water with a pinch of salt - the salt is the minerals and vitamins in our blood. Next they added the solids. They started with our red blood cells (red dyed cheerio's), which is 44% of our blood. Then added the white blood cells (mini marshmallows) and the platelets (coloured mosaic squares) both of which make up 0.05% of our blood.

They had a great time and cannot wait to learn more about this interesting topic!
