Weekly reminders for week beginning 9th May 2016

We hope that you all had a good week at school last week, particularity with it only being 4 days and are ready for the week ahead.

Year 6
A huge good luck from us all to all the Year 6 children who will be sitting their SATs tests this week. They could not have worked harder and we know they will try their very best. Get lots of rest and please ensure that all the children are in school promptly so that they can be settled before starting. 

For those parents / carers of children attending Bournemouth, please do not forget that there is a meeting regarding final arrangements on Thursday (12th May) at 5pm in the Key Stage 2 Hall. Your attendance really is important.

South Africa and USA

South Africa and USA continue this years round of Celebration Assemblies on Monday. We look forward to seeing many of you there to celebrate all the learning that they have done so far this year. Both assemblies promise to be a wonderful occasion if the efforts that the children have put into practising are anything to go by.

Fabulous attendance news!

Mexico - 100%

Brazil - 100%

China - 99.14%

Well done to all three classes who will receive prizes in Achievement Assembly next week for their attendance being above 99%. A huge well done also to Mexico and Brazil for their 100% attendance an amazing achievement - great news!

A further well done to Wales, Scotland, Italy, Mexico, Japan, India and Fiji who have not had any children arriving late to school this week! Can we get some more classes next week?

The Dojo League

The Dojo League!

The Dojo League has continued this week with lots of positive dojo awards being received!

The dojo scores have been analysed and the results are in!

Reception and Key Stage 1:

A big well done to Scotland, Wales, Italy and Mexico continue to currently top the Dojo League. Canada are just behind them in second place with Northern Ireland, France and USA in third.

Key Stage 2:
A big well done to Kenya who have taken the overall lead of the Key Stage 2 Dojo League with  South Africa in second place and Argentina and Libya in third.

Well done to everyone for really trying to earn Dojos for their class.

SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY

There is currently 1 place for a parent governor on this school’s Governing Body.  The Governor will be elected from among, and by parents of pupils at the school.

The Governing Body has very important responsibilities for the strategic direction and development of the school.  It is part of the partnership that exists between the School and Local Education Authority for the raising of educational standards and School Governors with a parental perspective can make an enormous contribution to the work of the Governing Body.

At this stage, nominations are requested for parents wishing to stand for election.  You may nominate yourself or your partner, provided that three other parents sign the nomination.  You may nominate another parent of a child at the school, provided that two other parents sign the nomination.  The election will be by secret ballot.

Any parent or person having parental responsibility for a child at the school is eligible to make a nomination and to vote.  Once someone is elected as a parent governor, he or she does not have to resign if their child leaves the school.  The normal term for governors is four years.

If you wish to submit a nomination, please collect a nomination form from Mrs Mortimer in the school office and complete and return it to me by Thursday 26th May.  If the nominee wishes, a brief written statement about him or herself may also be submitted for circulation to the parents.  It must be stressed that this is purely optional.

Please note:  For legal reasons certain people may be disqualified from becoming a governor.  For further details please see the nomination form.  All new Governors are now required to undergo the Police Screening procedure.

Weekly reminders for week beginning 2nd May 2016

We hope you are enjoying the long weekend and are ready to return to school tomorrow for a shorter week.

Thank you to the parents and families who joined us last Monday for the celebration assemblies of Kenya and Canada, we are sure you will agree they were a lovely occasion and we look forward to seeing more of you at these events during the term.

Year 2
Please remember that Miss Kendall will be holding 2 meetings on Tuesday (3rd May) for all Year 2 parents regarding the children's statutory tests that will be taking place later on this month. The meetings will take place in the Key Stage 2 hall at 3.30pm and 6pm, please do try to attend one or the other. 

Starsanppers - Year 3
We are very excited to welcome Starsnappers again to Clockhouse. They came to school recently to work with some of our children who loved developing their digital photography skills. On Thursday it will be the turn of Year 3. Other year groups are to follow throughout the rest of the year.

Sport
Good luck to the cricket team who play Parklands in the first match of the year, away on Tuesday. Good luck also to the Tag Rugby team who play Towers Junior at home on Friday.
