Clockhouse played their first league game of 2017 tonight. With everyone available again expectations were high. The opening 15 minutes were a little bit rusty which is to be expected after a long gap between games and training. Both teams tried to find their feet.
Clockhouse began to take the upper hand and when playing the ball with their heads up making good decisions progress was clear for all to see. Paul S and Bobby I played the ball out well and equally will probably have some battle scars after putting in strong defensive performances.
It was a clever pass from playmaker Aydan F that set up Callum L for the opening goal. The school captain showing calmness under pressure to stand the goal keeper up and dribble round him before finishing.
With the first goal in the net Clockhouse seemed to grow in confidence and it was not long before the lead was doubled by a goal of the season contender from Charlie M. Charlie hit through ball hard and very accurately to beat the keeper from just past the half way line.
Clockhouse took a two nil lead in to the 2nd half but Crowlands were the stronger starters to the half. Numerous occasions Bobby I and keeper Charlie B were forced to keep Crowlands off the score sheet. As the game ticked on Crowlands really did deserve at least a goal if not more. But Charlie B pulled off some fantastic diving saves to keep his clean sheet intact.
Once the Clockhouse team had gathered there composure and organised better positionaly they managed to sneak a third goal with Callum D's shot being parried into the path of Bobby L for a nice tap in and three points for the Clockhouse Boys Football Team. Keep up the good work!!!
FINAL SCORE: Clockhouse 3 - 0 Crowlands
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Charlie B
