Year 2 played in the Havering 3 Tee's cricket competition.
This was a new format of cricket that a lot of the Year 2 children will have never played before. That being said they took to it like naturals showing fantastic tactical awareness in the field and accuracy with the bat.
First up Clockhouse faced Harolw Wood. A strong performance picking up a lot of runs resulting in an inital victory for Clocks, scoring 74.
In our next game Clockhouse faced arguably the strongest cricketing school in the Borough when they faced James Oglethorpe. Despite being a player down Clockhouse managed a 61 all draw. Fantastic across the field!
Our final group game was against Parsonage Farm. Some powerful drives with the bat saw Clockhouse take a 76-62 victory against our friendly rivals.
As a result of the morning's performance Clockhouse reached the semi-final where they faced Nelmes. Both sides were strong in the field and a low scoring contest went the way of Nelmes. Defeating Clocks 57-50.
The final game was a nail bitter as Clockhouse met Benhust in a third place playoff. The scores were tied at the end of both teams innings so the game went down to a golden batter. George F kept composed and outscored the Benhust batter to give the Clockhouse team a respectable 3rd place finish.
Mr Yarrow commented on the day saying 'You have to be proud of these amazing Clockhouse Citizens! We played a player short throughout the day and finished third!
The group games could not have been harder we played two schools that are strong sporting schools in the borough and played the best cricketing school in the borough, winning 2 and managing a draw against JOPS.
Year 2 has a wealth of incredible sporting tallent. To think that we still have these children for 4 more years can only take sport at Clockhouse even further! Well done Clockhouse.'
