As part of our
drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil interest in reading, the school is celebrating the 100th Birthday of Roald Dahl on Tuesday 13th
September. On this special day, children from Years 1 to 6 can come to school dressed as a
favourite character from a Roald Dahl book. Although a letter will be coming out when the children return, we wanted to give you plenty of warning to get costumes (should your child wish to dress up).
During this
week the children will be participating in lots of exciting activities, studying
one of Roald Dahl’s famous books, sharing teacher’s favourite books and watching
one of Roald Dahl’s books come to life in film.
If possible, it would be good
to discuss, with your child, different characters created by Roald Dahl such as:
Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Enormous Crocodile, Willy Wonka, The Twits and
many more. We hope you have fun creating your favourite Roald Dahl character
and there will be a prize for the best dressed in each year group.
