As we move closer to the school closure tomorrow,
we continue to work tirelessly to ensure we are doing all we possibly can for
our fabulous community. Thank you once again for your words of support and
encouragement, as well as cakes and treats we have received. As a community,
you are simply amazing!
I along with the staff, feel genuinely sad that
this is the situation we find ourselves in. For those who are not currently in
school, we whole-heartedly miss you. For those who we will be saying goodbye to
tomorrow, we will all find this so hard but will ensure that the children have
a great day tomorrow. This is a non-uniform day to raise money for the current
crisis. Some families, who are not in school, have asked if they can donate,
this can be done via your Squid account.
Thank you to all those who have indicated that
you feel your child meets the criteria for coming to school on Monday. As I write,
we still await the information from the government as to what constitutes a key
worker. Once this is released we will inform you. Whilst we have plans in
place, the lack of clarity in this area is preventing us from confirming our
plans with you. Tomorrow we will create ‘new’ class on Dojo to communicate
directly with those families who will be attending school during the crisis.
Please be aware this will be a model of child care not education.
Home learning was sent home today via our
online communication channels and by hand to those who were in school. Please
message if you have questions, staff are on hand to help. We are also at the
end of the phone as and when you need us! We will be pleased to hear from you
all. Should any families require stationary packs, please let us know and these
can be provided. Tomorrow we will be sending home a timetable for what a day at
home could look like to give you some guidance. We have been informed that all statutory
tests have been cancelled for this year, this refers to Year 6 and 2 SATs, Year
4 Multiplication Check and the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.
A number of families have asked about provision
for food for those eligible for Free School Meals, we are waiting for guidance
from the Local Authority regarding this and will update you when we have
clarity. Please be aware that cool milk have informed us that they will not be delivering
milk from tomorrow.
The most up to date guidance can be found following
the below link:
Whilst I know many of you want to know what is
going on, we are only as up to date as you are in terms of information coming
from the government. Staff along with yourselves are under a lot of strain at
this time. We will continue to do our best and we are very busy planning our
next steps. This continues to be a very difficult time for everyone and we
certainly appreciate that you are worried about the impact this might have on
our community. As always we thank you for your continued support and please so
not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or wish to discuss
this further.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Jo Savidge
