Clockhouse are ACE at Tennis!

Clockhouse entered the Havering Mini Tennis Competition for the first time. The event took place at Cranston Park Tennis Club in Upminster.

Although the weather was dull, the performance from Clockhouse was a total contrast!

2 boys and 2 girls from Year 4 were selected for individual matches against a number of other Havering Schools.

Firstly Clockhouse faced St Joseph's. Winning 3-1. Ethan, Katie and Ben picking up victories.

Next up Clockhouse met Harrow Lodge. The game ended a draw 2-2 with the girls (Annabelle and Katie) winning their games for team Clockhouse.

In the penultimate game Clockhouse played against a good Benhurst squad. Some real resilience and tenacity was shown by our final boy and girl as Ben and Annabelle earned Clockhouse a valuable 2-2 draw.

The last round of games saw Clockhouse on court against an outrageously strong Oakfield team. Ben did fantastically to earn Clockhouse a point but unfortunately Clocks lost the game 3-1.

As a result Clockhouse achieved a 3rd place finish. This is remarkable considering the inexperience of the team.

Mr Yarrow commented on the outcome by saying 'Today Clockhouse entered the borough tennis competition for the first time. There was some early nerves but the 4 children grew in confidence as the competition went on, the standard of the rallies and shot selection was a pleasure to watch! What impressed me the most was the accuracy of the serves tonscore valuable points. 3rd place is outstanding considering the strength and experience of the top 2. Well done team Clockhouse!

Thank you to the parents for transporting the children!'

SQUAD: Ethan S, Annabelle L, Katie A and Ben A

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Ben A
