Highly successful tournament ends in cruel exit for Clockhouse

On a sun filled day our Year 5 boys football team took part in a 7 a-side knockout competition at Harold Wood School.

We began with a hard fought 0-0 draw with St Joseph's with Jayden going close twice to scoring what would have been a deserved winner! We followed this with a second consecutive draw with home school Harold Wood, George scoring a well-deserved equaliser ending the game 1-1.In our third game against RJ Mitchell, we hit top form! Despite going a goal behind, Clockhouse triumphed 5-1 with goals from Jack, Caleb, George and Elliot! We completed our group games with another 0-0 with Upminster.

Clockhouse finished a superb second in our group qualifying for the semi-finals!!!

In the Semi's we faced Nelmes who had just won their group. We fell a goal behind, but in true never give up Clockhouse fashion the boys drew level with a great strike from Jayden! Despite both teams best efforts, neither could find a winner and we entered the dreaded penalty shoot-out!

Both teams scored their first two penalties (Reean and Caleb). For our 3rd up stepped George whose fantastic strike was matched with an equally fine save from Nelmes goalkeeper! Unfortunately our keeper Harry couldn't quite manage to keep their third penalty out and we bowed out at the semifinal stage without losing a single game in normal time.

Despite the disappointment our boys were gracious in defeat showing true sportsmanship, staying behind to congratulate the eventual winners Nelmes!

They made us all so proud - well done boys!
