Netball Finals Day

The Clockhouse team went into the Netball Finals Day full of nerves but also full of potential. The draw for the semi-finals saw Clockhouse play Newtons. Newtons knocked Clockhouse out at the same stage last year. The first half saw a game stuck in the middle third with both teams taking time to settle into their game plans resulting in both sides missing a number of chances. Sadly as the game reached half time Clockhouse found themselves 3 - 2 down.

Newtons were relying heavily on their Goal Attack and the introduction of Charlie T at half time totally nullified the Newtons Goal Attack in the second half. As a result of Newtons now having very little in attack thanks to Charlie T and Niamh S the Clockhouse attack began to show its dominance playing at a speed that Newtons could not handle. As a result of this speed and fluidity to the Clockhouse play last years semi-final defeated was avenged as Clockhouse dominated the second half winning the game 11 - 6. Captain Daisie S-E leading by example scoring 8 goals whilst Gracie-May H picked up 3 impressive goals. Other outstanding performers included Caitlin M who battled through injury and Shannon I who worked tirelessly to find space.

Clockhouse were now due to meet Parsonage Farm in the Borough Cup Final. Despite the best efforts of Verity A-G at Goal Keeper Parsonage Farm had a big lead at half time. Credit must go to the Clockhouse team who have learned the hard way this year not to drop their heads. The second half was everything you could want from a final. An end to end game with Clockhouse working hard to be the better team. Both teams began to tire after nearly an hour of play but Victoria R was linking up well with Caitlin M to get Clockhouse the upper hand. Again the shooters were in no mood to mess around with Daisie S-E setting an example with amazing passing and shooting and Gracie-May H showing passion and determination with every movement.

Sadly time ran out for Clockhouse as they lost agonisingly 11 - 12. The result meant Clockhouse are officially the 2nd best school in Havering. After the game Mr Yarrow said 'The team without question played the best netball on the day. If the game was even just a minute longer we would of been champions of the Borough but that being said I am so proud of the amazing achievement this team have made! I find it so hard to pick out individuals so I am going to thank the whole team for their effort and passion! Charlie and Verity had never played netball before this year and they have fitted into the schools style of play making crucial interceptions. Victoria and Summer have worked tirelessly turning ball over and linking defence and attack. Caitlin  has been crucial when injecting speed into the team with pin point passing and an aggressive style of play. Gracie-May has been a shooting machine showing determination and tactical awareness with every move. And finally Daisie who has led by example at every opportunity her link up play and decision making has been incredible, this coupled with her eye for a goal has made her a great captain.

Looking at the bigger picture a league title and a Borough Cup Final is an amazing achievement and we must finally thank Mrs Peart for her commitment and dedication to the team. Her level headed approach is something that has helped keep the team grounded this year and has helped with individual player development!

WELL DONE TEAM CLOCKHOUSE!!!

Clockhouse Netballers through to Borough Finals Day!

After winning their league earlier this term the Clockhouse Netball Team welcomed Hylands last night for the quarter final of the Borough Cup.

The game lived up to the billing and was everything you would want from a cup quarter final.

In what has become typical Clockhouse style this year, the team  had a nervy opening few minutes with nobody wanting to make a mistake and the defensive work of Shannon I and Niamh S kept our visitors off the scoreboard.

Once Clockhouse got into their style of play it looked as though they would be unstoppable as Hylands struggled to deal with the tempo of the game. As a result Clockhouse took a 2-0 lead through Gracie-May H and Daisie S-E. Before the end of the opening period a well worked Hylands move got them a goal back.

Clockhouse started the second period well and Gracie-May H added another impressive goal to her tally for the year. The majority of the remainder of the period was spent in a tough encounter in the midfield with neither team getting many shooting opportunities. Sadly Clockhouse switched off for the final 2 minutes of the period and Hylands took full advantage to give the visitors the lead 4-3.

In this situation earlier in the year the children would of lost composure and heads would of dropped, but the team came out for the final third and dominated to earn their place at finals Day! The defensive work of not only Shannon I but the two wings Charlie T and Summer S was crucial to the team! Daisie S-E took advantage of a lovely lob pass from Caitlin M to tie the scores. With just over a minute to play in form Goal Shooter Grace-May H received another neat pass from Caitlin M which she used to deliver the winning goal giving Clockhouse a 5-4  victory and a place at finals day where we will meet either Newtons, Parsonage Farm, or Ardleigh Green.

Well done to everyone that played!!! Despite nearly giving Mr Yarrow and all the parents a heart attack in the second period, you now take your rightful place as one of the strongest netball schools in the borough!

Finals Day starts at 12:30 at Albany School this Friday 18th March. As always any support for the team is more than welcome!

Sporting success

We are delighted and excited to announce that after some fantastic work so far this year, both the Clockhouse Girls Football Team and the Netball Team have won their leagues!

The Girls Football Team topped their league undefeated picking up big wins against Harold Wood and Harold Court along the way.

The Netball team blew every opponent in their league away beating everybody except Ardleigh Green. In victory the team managed to hit double figures on the scorecard every game.

As a result of these two excellent league titles Clockhouse have earned a place in the Borough Cup quarter finals.

The Girls Football Team will play Parsonage Farm and the Netball Team will take on Hylands. Both of which will be at home!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CLOCKHOUSE!
