Summer Update Week 1 of the Clockhouse Family

Good afternoon Clockhouse,

I hope you are well and that you are getting to enjoy this fabulous weather. I always think things seem so much better when the sun is shining. It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first week of the summer holiday! I do hope that, despite all that is going on in the world, this has not stopped you making the most of the holiday.

I am sure, like me, many of you have just watched the briefing from Boris Johnson, which clearly shows us that the virus is very much still out there. Please do look after yourselves and follow the guidance to protect yourselves and others. As many of you know, we are awaiting updated guidance for the opening of schools in September. We have been told this will come to us on 11th August and, after this, I and the Senior Leadership Team will be working hard to be in a position to communicate further plans with you. At the moment, all that was communicated with you prior to the end of the term, still stands.

I hope you enjoyed the art session with Mrs Reinecke this week and maybe some of you will get involved with the scavenger hunt posted earlier today, this is obviously entirely up to you.

What to look out for next week (should you want to get involved):
  • A summer science challenge from Miss Bowdery
  • Session 2 of art with Mrs Reinecke
  • Story time with Mrs Herrera
  • A photography challenge from Miss Kearns
  • A poster reading competition from Mrs Jarvis and Miss Cason as part of the summer reading challenge
Please continue to stay safe and look after yourselves and each other.
If you need us please contact us via the normal channels.
Have a good weekend and week everyone. Stay safe and alert and keep smiling!
Remember - Hands, Face, Space!
Our community - Our school - A family and a home for everyone!

Well that is that then... Watch our video - a year in the life of Clockhouse!

Dear Clockhouse Community

We have come to the end of the year and what a year it has been with many, many highs and some real lows. Now that we have all had a 1 or 2 days away and the summer holiday is underway, I just wanted to spend some time reflecting on the previous year and what we have all achieved together and my goodness there is so, so much.

We could all end up channelling our thinking into the current time and the terrible pandemic that is affecting the world and has also sadly touched a number of families in our community, but we must not forget the fantastic year we have had as a school. We have again achieved amazing things this year and it is not until you have the chance to sit back and think about this that you realise all that we have done. This year, with the support of the whole Clockhouse Community, we have achieved so much. Whilst it has not been the year any of us would have chosen, we must not forget that again, despite everything, we have raised more money for charity and our children have worked hard to achieve great things. From singing at the O2 to achieving great things in sport. From amazing learning to some brilliant performances on our school stage at Christmas Concerts, from Best of British Week to 'We Are...' Week and all the amazing visitors we had in to school. And not forgetting that some of you even had to become teachers over night and what a fabulous job you did, over night we changed the educational landscape like never before and even though I do say so myself, I think we did a pretty good job.  The list just goes on and on! These are just some of our achievements and the children and staff have worked so hard to achieve all of this - they certainly have embraced our motto of this year - Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It. The 'icing on the cake with a cherry on top' had to be the external validation we received when Ofsted came to visit - just wow. Although this did not make it into the report, they did tell us that 'There is a clear spirit and vision which grabs hold of everyone as soon as they come into it'. This was simply wonderful to hear as we have worked so hard together to achieve this. I am so proud of our school and I hope you all are too. None of this would have been possible without our amazing community - our children, our parents, our staff and our governors, thank you to you all!

Thanks to the support from the Clockhouse families, we have been able to significantly enrich the curriculum for the children from visitors into school to trips out - without your support in this it would not be possible! Year 1 certainly had a fabulous time on their trip to see the Gruffalo, Year 2 had a great time at Colchester Zoo and met a very special person, whilst the Year 3 trip to Barleylands was enjoyed by all. Year 4 had lots of fun at the Synagogue with Year 5 enjoying their time at Greenwich and Year 6 having a great time at Gunpowder Mill to name but a few. Reception and Nursery even enjoyed lots of opportunities to share their learning with their families and had a great time when the Zoo came calling!

Whilst this is only a small snap shot of our year, it would be hard to capture it all, we have certainly achieved a lot with everyone's hard work and support - thank you! Please follow the link below to our own special review of the year:

As one year draws to a close and we all take a well-earned break, we begin to make plans for the new year and we look forward to next year with excitement, anticipation and understandably a little bit of aprehension considering the situation we are in. Whatever happens and whatever September looks like, I do know that we will be in it together and do all that we can for the little people who mean so much to use all! Clockhouse has done significantly well this year and it is a good place to be. Whatever the new year does bring, together we will work our hardest to do the very best for your children and with yours and their support anything is possible.

As you know, we return to school on Monday 7th September and we look forward to welcoming everyone and to hear about their holidays.

Good luck to all those moving on to pastures new in September, we will miss you all but know that you are more than ready for the next phase of your life. Finally, from myself and on behalf of the staff and governors, all that leaves me to say is a huge thank you for everything you have done this year, Clockhouse would not be in the place it is without you all. I hope you have a great summer whatever you are doing and enjoy a well-earned rest.

Here's to a great 2020-2021 whatever it may bring.

You know where we are if you need us.
Stay safe everyone!
Have a good one!

Summer Holidays are upon us...already! But it is not always that easy!

We understand that for some, Summer is a restful time to relax with family and friends but for others it can be a challenging time. There are some of us who need a little bit of support as the time draws near to the end of the holidays and the return to school gets closer. The time when we will need to get our school uniforms out again, gather our school equipment, prepare for early get-ups and then the actual 'getting back to school' bit.

This can be a time of worry and anxiety. Questions and concerns may emerge in our minds:
Will my friends still like me?
Will I be able to manage at school?
What if I fail in my new year group?
How will I fill those learning gaps?

Coming back to school this year will be different and possible harder for some than previously. To support children and their families, we have put together a fun, printable 'Well-being Journal'. This journal is a supportive tool that parents/carers can do alongside their child/children or for older children, independently and discussed after if desired. It tackles areas concerning friendship, worries about the new academic year as well as positive self-image. You can choose to share it with your new teacher on return, or a member of school staff should you wish.

We hope that this 'Well-being Journal' will help children as they ease their way back into school after a long time away.

A huge thank you!

As many of you know, earlier in the term we put together an Amazon Wish List to get some much needed games and equipment for the children to use when we return in September, at play and lunch time especially.

Well we have been totally overwhelmed with the response from our Clockhouse family and things are still arriving!

Thank you so, so much, the children are so, so lucky. It is not to late to donate - just follow this link:

Day 88 of the Clockhouse Family

Good evening Clockhouse

Well here we are at the end of the summer term and at the end of the year. We got to Day 88 of the Clockhouse Family and although this will be the last of my daily updates, I also do not want to ‘disappear’ for six weeks - this pandemic continues to unfold and I know this is not going to be a normal summer holiday. Do not panic, I will respect your time away from Clockhouse, but I will also be in touch periodically with updates as needs be. We will also be sending out challenges and things to keep you busy should you wish to get involved.

Where has the last 18 weeks, or for that matter the year, gone! It has been such a tough year for us all but equally there is so much to celebrate. Before the end of the week,  I will be sending you our annual review of the year, along with a video to celebrate Clockhouse 2019-2020 - look out for this.

I hope you enjoyed our 'Pass the Pen' message sent earlier today. We had lots of fun making this and I can assure you, it was not just Miss Ward who kept dropping the pen! We also hope you enjoyed our final virtual assembly of the year. Congratulations to our Governor Award Winners! Certificates will be given out in September.

We had a lovely final day with Team Hawaii in school. They have been nothing short of amazing during this time and I know we will all miss our Hawaii bubble. We also said some sad farewells to staff today, always hard but we wish them well for their next adventure.

Things to look out for during the holiday:
  • The Clockhouse Year Book Video
  • A Clockhouse Journal for you to complete should you wish to
  • Stories read by staff
  • Art tutorials and ideas
  • Science experiments
  • Sport challenges
  • Reading challenges
  • Fitness work out
And more I am sure!

Please keep in touch during the summer using #ourclockhousefamily with things that you are up to and remember if you need us, you can contact us via Dojo.

All that leaves me to say is, have a great summer and thank you for your continued support and kind words during the whole of 2019-2020. What a year it has been! Have a great one team Clockhouse! We cannot wait to see you all in September!
