Weekly reminders for week beginning 28th June 2021

As we get ever closer to the end of the term and the end of the year, we had another good and busy week at Clockhouse last week.

Following the success of the 'A week in the life of...' videos, we launched another of these last week. If you have not yet seen it, you can view 'A week in the life of Year 5' by clicking on the links below:
Celebration Assemblies
Well done to Northern Ireland and Brazil for their Celebration Assemblies last week. We hope you enjoyed them from a far.

Good luck to Scotland and Peru who continue our programme of Celebration Assemblies. Teachers will post these on Class Story / Google Classroom for you to see!

SumDog Competition
Mrs Overton has entered us into another SumDog Competition which started last Friday. Please do your bit to help us achieve as well as we can. If you need login details please ask or message class teachers.

Clock the Miles #trytobeatthepye
A big well done to Reception and Key Stage 1 who worked so hard last week to Clock the Miles. They will complete their miles on Tuesday when Nursery will take the baton to do their bit!

Please send in any sponsorship money you have raised for the three worthwhile charities and thank you in advance. Every little bit really does help.

Parent Council
As you may be aware we have our own Parents’ Council which throughout its time has been run by parents for parents, chaired by one of our school Governors, Marcus Giddy. The next meeting is this Thursday, please join if you wish by following the Zoom link below (please join with your child's name and class).

Thursday 1st July at 9:15am

Orange Day
On Friday we will be joining with others and hosting ‘Orange Day’ to support the very worthwhile and local charity - St Francis Hospice. As a community I am very aware that this amazing place has touched many of our lives in different ways including my own.

To show our support for this, for a small donation, we ask that the children come to school in non-uniform including something orange - this can be a small as a hair clip, a pattern on socks, or something orange on a top etc. Can we turn Clockhouse orange for the day?

No Pen Friday
Back by popular demand, Friday sees No Pen Friday - we wonder who will manage the challenge!

Coming out this week
Look out for our next episode of 'A week in life of...' coming out this week.
The Newsletter for June will also be coming out this week.

Delightful Digestion

Year 4 have been learning about the human body and had a great time learning about the human digestion system.

Who knew what you could replicate with crackers, bananas, orange juice and a pair of tights! This certainly helped to develop their understanding of how we digest food.

It is still important that we all work to improve our attendance.
Please remember that our school target is 96%.

Hot Chocolate with the Head

As we all know, Hot Chocolate with the Head is an important part of Clockhouse. Obviously due to the current situation we find ourselves in, sadly it is not possible for us to come together to celebrate which is such a shame. However, we do not want the children to miss out and therefore the chosen children will get a special Hot Chocolate pack to enjoy at home!

As you all know we are constantly striving to improve Clockhouse for your children.

This year we are all 'Going the extra mile' to ensure our school is a fabulous place to be. Each week, the Heads of Year as well as Miss Ward, Mrs Reinecke and Mrs Savidge choose a person (child or adult) who has been seen to do this! We hope all the children enjoy their hot chocolate pack - send us a picture of you enjoying your special celebration drink!

This week the following Clockhouse Citizens have been seen to be 'Going the extra mile':

Nursery - Mason K-F for trying so hard with his writing and doing it so well.
Reception - Ethan R (Scotland) for wonderful home learning and always trying his best.
Year 1 - Andrew S (Italy) for growing in self-believe and confidence.  His independence has grown so much.
Year 2 -  Giorgio D (Mexico) for showing resilience and working extremely hard with his reading and writing.
Year 3 - Oscar H (Brazil) for stepping in at the last minute to take on more speaking parts in the class assembly.
Year 4 - Roman S (Kenya) for working really hard independently with English and Maths and making good progress
Year 5 - Isra F (India) for showing excellent resilience in the assessments this week
Year 6 - Emma S (Australia) for her amazing attitude towards her learning and all aspects of school life.
Parent - Mrs Adams for going the extra mile to support children.
Miss Ward - Danielius J (New Zealand) for showing kindness and patience to his peers
Mrs Reinecke - Samuel W (Fiji) for great effort in RE and trying really hard to learn key facts about other faiths
Mrs Savidge - Mr Hurdle and Miss Page for going the extra mile to train to be a teacher

Well done to all these children and all the other children who have been seen to be 'Going the extra mile' this week!

Our treats are ready to go and we are looking forward to Hot Chocolate Friday next week to celebrate with more fantastic Clockhouse people!

Reading Raffle Winners

As you may already know, once again, this year we are holding a weekly Reading Raffle. Each time the children read at home and a message gets sent to their teacher on Class Dojo they get a raffle ticket which gets entered into the Reading Raffle draw. Another good week was had at Clockhouse last week with lots of wonderful and exciting learning taking place.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming Scotland back to school on Tuesday. The last thing we want is for any class to have to isolate, but this is certainly a reminder to us all that the virus is very much out there still and we all need to continue to be so careful.

Following the success of the 'A week in the life of...' videos, we launched another of these last week. If you have not yet seen it, you can view 'A week in the life of Year 3 by clicking on the links below:

Please get those sponsorship forms completed - every little bit really does help.

Science Week 2021

We all had a great time taking part in Science Week earlier this year.

Each year group had a different project to complete and a different scientist to find out about.

Can you guess what we got up to from the pictures below?
