Clockhouse Weekly Wow

Here is last week's Weekly Wow and as usual there were a lot of things to 'wow' about last week.

Time to CELEBRATE - Value Champion Alert!

We are very excited and pleased to share with you that we have more Clockhouse Value Champions of 2023-2024!

A huge congratulations to

Lucas P (Fiji)

who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2023-2024!

Lucas has been working super hard with his learning this term. He is progressing onto our year 6  maths challenges and has also started to complete homework. We are all very proud of him.

Ruby B (New Zealand)

who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2023-2024!

Has shows everyday how dedicated she is to her learning and achieving the goals that she sets herself. The progress she has made so far this year has been wonderful to see and I could not be more prouder of her. Whilst her amazing dedication is evident in all of her lessons, I think it has never been more obvious than in her maths learning. Everyday she challenges herself and pushes herself in understanding the maths skills and challenges that he encounters and the perseverance she shows in learning is a model to her fellow pupils.

Lois M (China)

who has earned the Excitement Champion Award for 2023-2024!

This person went beyond the possible when competing in the English Karate Championships. Taking part in two events, the individual and team Kumite, they won silver in the individual event and bronze in the team event, meaning that, for their age group, they are one of the very best in this event in the whole country. Not only that, but this person then brought the excitement of her achievement into the classroom, showing her medals to the other children and demonstrating moves up at the front, before answering questions from the class. We're unbelievably proud of her in Class China, well done Lois!

Harold H (Kenya)

who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2023-2024!

Since starting Year 4, Harold has continued to progress in his learning with a resilient mindset. He takes on challenges with a smile and listens carefully to feedback. He is a pleasure to have in the classroom and I am thrilled to be giving him this well-deserved award!

Lottie R (Canada)

who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2023-2024!

She always tries her best to succeed in all lessons. She readily shares ideas and constantly reflects on her opinions, as well as considering the opinions of others. She never gives up, even when learning is challenging. She recalls prior learning readily and makes links between different subjects. She is a great role model to the class and has truly earnt being recognised as the fabulous learner she is!

A huge well done from everyone at Clockhouse - wear your Values Champion Badge with pride!

Weekly reminders for week beginning 26th February 2024

Welcome back to the new half term everyone!

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow (Monday 26th February). We hope that you all had a lovely holiday and are ready and raring to go for the new term ahead!

Please remember that learning starts as soon as the children arrive and everyone needs to be in school by 8.55am. Doors open at 8.45am and teachers are available from then. We really need to improve our attendance this term so please help us out by ensuring that children are in school everyday and on time unless it really is unavoidable!

'We are...' Week
We have a busy but exciting week with all the children taking part in our annual 'We are...' Week.  Throughout the week the children will be doing lots of different things to inspire them about their futures. We have lots and lots of visitors coming in as well.

Year 5
As part of 'We are...' Week, Year 5 are off to Barclays Bank in Docklands on Friday. Please ensure consent forms are returned by Wednesday, if you have not done so already.

Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality
This week is our termly focus Attendance and Punctuality Week. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is in school everyday and on time! We really do need to work together to improve the children's attendance across the school and need your help to do so. Together we CAN DO IT! Look out for the daily updates! Who will win the top prize?

Non-uniform Day
Following the letter sent out prior to the holiday, Monday will be a non-uniform day. For a small donation to raise money for Asthma and Lung UK and MS UK the children and staff can leave their uniform at home.

Parents' Evening
Do not forget that on Wednesday and Thursday of this week it is Parents' Evening after school. Teachers have been busy making appointments for everyone, so if, as yet, you do not have an appointment please contact your child's class teacher on Monday to make arrangements for a meeting. As you know, we are again offering a blended approach, so if you have not done so already, please do tell the teachers if you want a Zoom or face to face meeting. Please do allow your children to be part of the meeting so that they also know how they are doing and what they need to work on. The importance of the co-education of your child cannot be overstated.

The termly questionnaire for parents / carers came out via Class Dojo prior to the holiday and can be accessed using the link below:

As always we thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate that this takes time but your feedback is invaluable to us as we continually strive to improve the educational experience we provide for the children and families we serve.

School Nurse Drop In
Should you wish to speak to the School Nurse she will be available for you to 'drop in' on Tuesday 2.30pm. Please call the Key Stage 2 Office to book a slot or just drop in.

Road Safety for Year 1, 2, 3 and 4

Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 enjoyed watching a show all about Road Safety. There were some very important messages and the children listened to these and responded so well.

Please do talk to your children about this important aspect of their safety.

Year 1 learn to use a knife and fork!

As part of our Life Skills curriculum, Year 1 have been busy learning the important life skill of how to use a knife and fork correctly.

Ask them to show you at dinner time.

Amazing result for Year 3 and 4 Athletics Team

Our Year 3 and 4 Athletics team had their first competition of the year as a new team when taking part in the yearly Indoor Athletics tournament. The team faced a number of challenging schools from across the borough and took part in several track and field events. From the moment the team left the school, their behaviour was impeccable when travelling on public transport to the Hornchurch Sports Complex and this continued throughout the afternoon. The team demonstrated outstanding discipline, showcasing their respect for both their competitors and the team.

The team were excited to put to use the training they had been doing at school, arriving ready and striving to take part in their allocated events for the day. The teams were consistent in all races when crossing the line in the top 3. They did a fantastic job when tackling the field events, in fact they 'smashed it'! Taking on the long jump, vertical jump, chest push, javelin, speed bounce and a challenging five stride which they took time to practice and perfect in training.

The team finished with a very well deserved 2nd place in their heat, the team were truly outstanding the whole afternoon and did a fantastic job in all events and races!

Great job Team Clockhouse!
