Clockhouse Weekly Wow

Here is last week's Weekly Wow and as usual there were a lot of things to 'wow' about last week.

Time to CELEBRATE - Value Champion Alert!

We are very excited and pleased to share with you that we have more Clockhouse Value Champions of 2022-2023!

A huge congratulations to

Oliver B (Uganda)
who has earned the Nurture Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Oliver goes out of his way to ensure that his friends are happy and tries to resolve any conflicts that may arise. Whilst out on our trip, Oliver went above and beyond to support his friend in a very calm manner and was reassuring him that everything was okay.

Lois M (South Africa)
who has earned the Nurture Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Lois is such a polite and well-mannered member of South Africa.  She always wants to help both her peers and the adults in the class.  On our recent trip to the Thames Barrier, she was extremely kind to another girl in the classroom.  This other child did not want to go on the trip as it seemed far away.  Lois told her that it would be fun and that she would sit with her on the coach and look after her on our journey there.  Through Lois' actions, the child made the decision to go on the trip with the rest of the class.  Thank you Lois!

Leo S (Kenya)

who has earned the Learning Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Leo always tries hard with his learning even when finding things a challenge. Everyday he comes into school with a smile, ready to face the day. He is always willing to help his peers to overcome their challenges too. He has come into Year 4 with an exceptional mindset showing determination, resilience and positivity.  I have already seen an improvement in his class work and his home learning.
Keep up the great work!

Lexi-Leigh G (Kenya)
who has earned the Nurture Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Lexi-Leigh always shows politeness and warmth towards her peers and other children across the school. Her caring behaviour has been noted by multiple teachers during playtime and lunchtime. She is an exceptional role-model to all in Kenya, well done Lexi!

Jahquan C (Australia)
who has earned the Excellence Champion Award for 2022-2023!

Jahquan has been in school on time every day this half term which is an amazing achievement! He’s always so happy when he comes through the door and always tries his hardest. He definitely deserves the recognition!

A huge well done from everyone at Clockhouse - wear your Values Champion Badge with pride!

Weekly reminders for week beginning 31st October 2022

Welcome back to the new half term everyone!

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow (Monday 31st October). We hope that you all had a lovely holiday and are ready and raring to go for the new term ahead!

Important Visitors
On Tuesday morning we will be welcoming Cllr Ford (Cabinet Member for Children and Young People) and Trevor Cook (Assistant Director of Education Services) to the school. We are very honoured to welcome them and show them what the school is all about.

Parents' Evening
Do not forget that on Wednesday and Thursday of this week it is Parents' Evening after school. Teachers have been busy making appointments for everyone, so if, as yet, you do not have an appointment please contact your child's class teacher on Monday to make arrangements for a meeting. As you know, we are offering a blended approach, so if you have not done so already, please do tell the teachers if you want a Zoom or face to face meeting.

The termly questionnaire for parents / carers came out via Class Dojo during the holiday and can be accessed using the link below

As always we thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate that this takes time but your feedback is invaluable to us as we continually strive to improve the educational experience we provide for the children and families we serve.

Please do allow your children to be part of the meeting so that they also know how they are doing and what they need to work on. The importance of the co-education of your child cannot be overstated.

Reception and Year 3
Reception and Year 3 will be taking part in a workshop all about Diwali on Wednesday. There is no cost to you for this and is being paid for by the school.

Year 1 and Year 4
The children in Year 1 will be welcoming the Birds of Prey on Wednesday as part of their topic all about Woodland Life. Year 4 will also be having the same experience as part of their development of their Cultural Capital.

Rock Star Day
We are very much looking forward to celebrating Rock Star Day in Friday and cannot wait to see lots of fabulous costumes. Maths heads at the ready for the children.

Special Dinner Day
To celebrate Bonfire Night we have a special dinner on Friday.

Year 4 visit the Thames Barrier

Despite the traffic, Year 4 had a great time at the Thames Barrier as part of their Geography fieldwork.

They learnt a lot about the Thames and the importance of this amazing structure!

Along with this, they were fabulous Clockhouse Citizens throughout the whole trip and were complemented by the public a number of times - well done Year 4!

Who saw the Vikings?

Year 6 loved meeting a 'Viking'. They had a great day and loved the opportunity to enrich all the learning they have been doing this term. They spent time finding out about Viking life and how the Vikings lived.

Their costumes were amazing as well - thank you to all those who supported them with this!

Time to Celebrate as Clockhouse get another award!

A year ago, the school embarked on a journey to improve the teaching and learning of science within the school. As part of this journey we reapplied for the Primary Science Quality Mark after achieving the Gilt Award in 2018.

We are delighted to announce we went one better than last time and have been awarded the prestigious Outreach Primary Science Quality Mark. This is the highest possible award!

Our reviewers said - 'It has been a pleasure to read about all the good practice and enrichment activities at Clockhouse and beyond... This school is demonstrating outreach – particularly noting the difference made to a local school. The reflection notes that increasing numbers of staff are involved in the outreach and that the activity of supporting others is not solely the role of one individual. A learning culture clearly exists and there is enthusiasm and strategic value for science... Celebrate and enjoy the achievement of PSQM Outreach.

Special thanks must go to Miss Bowdery our former Science Leader. Without her drive, this would not have happened.

Well done Clockhouse!
