Girls football news

On Friday the girls football team to the field to play Crownfield hoping to get revenge for the boys who lost earlier in the week to the same opposition.

The girls started at a ferocious pace and were ahead in the opening minutes when Shannon I took her first opportunity to open the scoring. For the remainder of the first half Clockhouse remained on top with Niamh S putting in a solid performance in defense and Caitlin M narrowly missing the opportunity to double Clockhouse's lead.

The second half started in the same fashion, but against the run of play Crownfield equalised from an own goal. After the Crownfield goal they grew in confidence and the contest was being played from end to end. Both teams had opportunities to score with Clockhouse making good progress through Victoria R and equally being kept in the game by some breath-taking saves from Katie K. Caitlin M was denied late on from the penalty spot thanks to a fantastic save from the Crownfield keeper.

A draw was a fair result from a great contest. The result keeps Clockhouse girls football team undefeated and top of the league.

Great Work Girls, no training next week due to parents evening!
