Borough Champions make it back to back finals as Clockhouse look to defend their title!

Last week Clockhouse visited Engayne for the eagerly awaited borough cup netball semi-final. In blistering hot conditions it took Clockhouse a while to get going and were chasing an early Engayne lead.

Once Clockhouse found their rhythm a game fitting of the occasion ensued. An evenly match encounter forced the champions to dig deep and pull out all the stops. Charlie B literally putting his body on the line to stop the Engayne attacks.

Clockhouse put the pedal to the floor just before half time to take a 9-5 lead into half time. Bobby I and Rachel C feeding the shooters at every opportunity.

As the team came out for the second half they knew the job was not done. Some strict officiating limited the Clockhouse chances. But as always Lily S-E and Sophie L were clinical when the opportunities were forthcoming.

In typical Clockhouse style the game became tight and more decisions went against Clockhouse in the attacking third. Engayne managed to tie the game 11 all as time ran out.

Clockhouse were no strangers to extra time, the borough reigning champions were not prepared to relinquish their grip on the cup easily. Two goals early on in extra time, one for each shooter put Clockhouse in a strong position. It came down to the passion and desire in defence, captain Beth C, Charlie B and Kayleigh M were determined to shut Engayne out. Time was on Clockhouse's side and although Engayne pulled one back it was too Little too Late and Clockhouse were in the final again.

After the game Mr Yarrow said ' firstly thanks to Miss Ettridge for her help on the day! This is a huge achievement for this hard working group of Clockhouse children. This is our third final on the bounce and this squad have the opportunity to make school history by being the first group to regain a Borough Title.

The attack was on point as always but the defence really made a statement in this game. If it wasn't for their hard work especially when the team was being officiated very strictly in the 2nd half, then the result could of been very different!

We have now won both the quarter and semi finals in extra time. This might not be ideal but it goes to show the fight and never say die attitude this team brings onto the court every game!!!

The final will be the last sporting event of the year and it would be great to finish on a high with this team getting the accolade they deserve!!!

If you are free please come to Marshalls Park School next Wednesday the 18th July, 3:30 start to see if this team can bring the cup back to Clockhouse! All support would be greatly received!!! The team are a pleasure to watch and will no doubt put on an amazing performance! Good luck Clocks you know you can do it!'
