In conjunction with the London Borough of Havering,
we were delighted to be able to give the Year 5
and 6 children the opportuntiy to listen to ex-criminal Gary Hutton talk about his life.
During his talk this afternoon, the children heard directly from someone
who has seen and done it all! Growing up on the streets of the East End, there is nothing he hasn’t seen.
The
talk was desinged to help the children understand what can happen with a life without
education and the path that not having an education leads many to go down. This
a real life path that has been taken by Gary and will include such things as
Drugs, Alcohol, Knife Crime, Gang Culture and Crime.
These
talks are real and hard hitting about the path taken without education in life,
the pitfalls of such a life and the path needed to be taken by young people to
live a productive life and that being education is the KEY to a better life.
Well done to Year 5 and 6 for listening so respectfully and for asking some great questions and thank you to Gary for sharing this with us!
