Coronavirus Update 17.3.20

Dear Parents / Carers

Once again thank you for your support at this difficult time. Again today you have been thoughtful, respectful and supportive of all that we are trying to do. We really are doing our very best for the community under these unprecedented circumstances. I hope you agree that the staff are doing an amazing job and are very grateful of your kind words. We continue to react to the ever changing circumstances.

Please be aware of this information:
  • Pupils continue to be reminded regarding personal hygiene and hand washing, this will be on-going
  • Preparation for home learning is nearly complete and this will be coming home to you over the next few days as well as log-ins to online learning materials. More details will be forthcoming.
  • IPads etc. are being cleaned regularly
  • The site staff continue to take extra care to clean all surfaces thoroughly, this includes such things as door handles
  • Trips, sporting fixtures and in-school events are being reviewed continually by the school’s leadership team.

Changes made by the school today:
  • All parents / carers workshops will be suspended until further notice, this includes such things as ‘Ready, Steady, Read’ and ‘Learn with My Child’ sessions
  • All assemblies will be suspended to minimise close contact between children. Assembly will be completed in classrooms
  • Tomorrow’s author visit for Key Stage 2 has been cancelled, books which have been ordered will be sent to us and distributed
  • All Our Clockhouse Association (OCA) events will be postponed for the foreseeable future. This means that Friday’s Mother’s Day Sale will not take place – apologies in advance.
  • We will continue to try to provide Bagel’s but this could prove difficult moving forward.
  • We have reviewed the club provision, clubs will continue currently should you wish for your child to attend.

DfE Guidance
Current guidance has been published on ‘Stay at home’ for people with confirmed or possible coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. The key changes are:
  • staff, young people and children should stay at home if they are unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature to avoid spreading infection to others. Otherwise they should attend education or work as normal
  • if staff, young people or children become unwell on site with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they should be sent home
  • if you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill
  • it is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community

·       If you have coronavirus symptoms:
o   do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital
o   you do not need to contact 111 to tell them you are staying at home
o   testing for coronavirus is not needed if you are staying at home
o   plan ahead and ask others for help to ensure that you can successfully stay at home and consider what can be done for vulnerable people in the household
o   ask your employer, friends and family to help you to get the things you need to stay at home
o   wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, each time using soap and water, or use hand sanitiser
o   if you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home, or your condition gets worse, or your symptoms do not get better after 7 days, then use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service. If you do not have internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999

Please be assured that as always, we will continue to prioritise the children’s health and well-being at all times and to this end will keep you as updated as possible.

Please can we ask that should your child be self-isolating you alert us a quickly as possible following the normal procedures.

We all acknowledge that this is a difficult time for everyone and we certainly appreciate that you are worried about the impact this might have on our community. Please do be aware that we are not doctors and can only advise you to contact health professionals should you need advice. As always we thank you for your continued support and please so not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or wish to discuss this further.

Yours sincerely
Mrs Jo Savidge
