Time to Celebrate our Ofsted News

Dear Parents/Carers

TIME TO CELEBRATE!
As we are sure you all already know Clockhouse Primary School was inspected by OFSTED on 29th and 30th January 2020 under a Section 8 inspection. This Inspection did not come as a surprise to us and we were certainly ready to share with the Inspectors how far the school has come since the previous Good Inspection in May 2016. This followed the disappointment of the OFSTED Inspection in February 2014 when the school ‘Required Improvement’.

As you know, as a community, we are passionate about giving our children the very best possible experience whilst they are with us and to this end we were excited to share this with our special visitors. Since the 2016 inspection, we have worked tirelessly with your support and that of the children, to improve the school.

The inspectors were certainly impressed with what they saw, telling us that the school has a ‘clear spirit and vision which grabs hold of everyone as soon as they come into it’. We are therefore absolutely delighted and very proud to be able to attach the report that has now been published. As you will see the OFSTED Inspectors agreed with our judgement that Clockhouse does remain a GOOD school but also, so impressed were the inspectors, that they also agreed with us that we deserved an ‘Outcome 2’. This means that whilst the school remains good currently, the inspectors saw sufficient evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school might be judged OUTSTANDING if it received a section 5 inspection at the time of our section 8 inspection. We have therefore been informed that the next inspection will be a section 5 inspection so we can show Clockhouse at its very best and get the external validation we deserve. This inspection will typically take place within one to two years from now.

The attached report identifies the many strengths of our school and also gives us useful information as to how we can improve even further, this is nothing that we did not know. We are sure you will be pleased to hear, as we were, that the Inspectors were very impressed with the children, calling them an ‘absolute delight’. Please thank them on our behalf. It would be remiss of us at this point, not to thank the staff who work so hard for our children, we are sure you join us in this. Further thanks must go to you all. As parents / carers, you continue to work with us and support us and for that we thank you. Thank you to the many parents / carers who took the time out of their busy days to speak to the Inspectors and say such lovely things about Clockhouse, it was certainly very humbling to hear and the Inspectors were truly overwhelmed with how supportive you all are as were we. A further thank you must go to the parents / carers who took the time to respond to the OFSTED questionnaire themselves or help their children complete the children’s version.

If you wish to discuss any matters raised in the report with either of us, please contact us via the school office. Here’s to the next chapter in the life of Clockhouse as our journey to providing your children with an Outstanding educational experience continues. We both look forward to sharing this with you!

Yours sincerely

Mrs Jo Savidge                       Mr David Leaper
Headteacher                            Chair of Governors
